Recap of PatternCon and More Updates from the Style Falcon Sewing Studio

Behind the Seams: PatternCon Recap, Fall Pattern Previews & Interfacing Wisdom

PatternCon recap: I'm back in the sewing studio after a trip to PatternCon in Atlanta and a few days off. Everyone was so excited to share their passion for garment sewing - what an incredible experience! It also was fantastic to meet so many members of the Style Falcon Flock in person.

More events are coming up. I'll be at the Hudson Valley Slow Fashion Fair in Stone Ridge, NY on September 26. And also at the Connecticut American Sewing Guild's annual retreat in Deep River, CT in late October. Please stop by and say "hi!" Also, stay tuned for more events in 2027!

Fall pattern news: Progress continues on our upcoming fall release, the Convex Dress! We’re fine-tuning the pattern's detailed instruction, to make sure it delivers some trendy and easy-wearing fall style that's also easy to sew. Get ready to add this versatile piece to your autumn wardrobe rotation soon.

Master interfacing: Interfacing can make or break a sewing project. Check out some videos on the Style Falcon YouTube Channel that will help you:

  • To Pretreat or Not? Learn when it pays to pre-shrink interfacing before applying it to your fashion fabric.

  • Applying fusible interfacing correctly, including basting if needed.

  • Troubleshooting What should you do when interfacing bubbles or fails to adhere? We cover quick fixes to save your project from disaster.
