Two-hour Dress
Do you have about two hours and about two yards of fabric? You can make this dress! This light knit dress returns designer results - and pockets - with minimal effort.
Sew it up after lunch and wear it to dinner, a concert - anywhere life takes you.
Or make a chic top to wear with any bottoms.
Perfectly paired with the Straight A's Skirt and the Secret Jeans Trousers, or as a layering piece with the Positive Space Jacket.
Both versions offer trendy square necklines, princess seams, back darts and elbow-length sleeves.
Choose drapey light knit fabrics for the Two-hour Dress, such as jersey or ITY. Wider fabric is recommended. See the chart at left for a list of everything you need to get started.

I did many sizing edits to the pattern. The back shoulder area was perfect on the first draft, which is why I bought the pattern. The bust darts were also perfect. Because all the landmarks were well delineated on the pattern I was able to take inches off the sides and use my own sleeve pattern to put in the sleeves. Thank you for responding to my emails because it gave me more confidence.
Thank you for the review, Linda! I'm glad to hear that the pattern worked out for you.
As I am getting older I felt this designer might create patterns that would suit me. I made the 2 hour dress and the dress was huge and very unflattering. It fit through the chest and shoulders but the rest was very large. What I am learning througj trial and error to do is to look at the fit models and if our figures don’t align then the style and fit may not be what you are after.
Thank you for the feedback, Carola. I am sorry to hear that the dress had too much style ease for your liking. Perhaps the top version would work better for you? If you want to alter your dress into a top, try cutting along a line just above the pockets and hemming to the desired length. If you like more fitted garments overall, the Sublime Shell might be just the thing for you. - Diane
unhappily a serious computer challenge has left me without being able to locate this pattern. thankfully i had printed the jeans pattern from previous purchase so not locating it is not a challenge. My downloads file got lumped altogether when Geek Squad did my transition. So sorry i have not used the blouse/top/dress pattern to relate my happiness with it.

I made this dress, but will not wear it. I will be giving it to charity. I really like the way the pockets set in by a creative folding technique. Kudos on that. However, the dress was not flattering. I found the lack of a proper neck facing to be unacceptable and very disappointing. When I take the time to make something, I want it to be made well so it will become a lasting part of my wardrobe. Very disappointed in this pattern.
Thank you for your feedback, Kathleen. I am sorry that the Two-hour Dress did not meet your expectations. When I designed this dress, my goal was to create a breezy, quick pattern - hence the name Two-hour Dress. Because the dress is made in a jersey knit, the textile does not ravel and a proper facing is not 'a must.' But I can see your point. It's a little extra work but not difficult to make a facing. I will create a tutorial for sewers who want to make this a 'Three-hour Dress.' - Diane
